This vacancy is for ASG Arrowsmith. Based in Coventry, we are a King’s Award manufacturing site and recognised as a Rolls-Royce High Performing Supplier Group. We specialise in machining complex aero-engine components supported by state-of-the-art technology. Our team of 65 people are regularly recognised for our continued commitment to excellence.

Role Profile

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Estimator to support the continued growth of ASG Arrowsmith’s aero-engine manufacturing capability. This is a key role within the business, responsible for producing accurate, competitive and profitable cost estimates for complex aerospace components in a highly regulated environment.

You will combine strong technical understanding of aero-engine manufacturing with commercial judgement, working closely with engineering, production, supply chain and customers. This role plays a critical part in contract acquisition, margin protection and long-term customer relationships.

This role will be responsible for

Producing detailed and accurate cost estimates and quotations for complex aero-engine components, ensuring all assumptions are robust, transparent and aligned with ASG Aerospace commercial and quality standards. You will evaluate manufacturing routes, materials, machining times, special processes and supply-chain inputs to deliver right-first-time estimates that support profitable growth. Success in this role means enabling informed bid decisions, supporting on-time quotation delivery, and reinforcing ASG Arrowsmith’s reputation as a reliable and trusted aerospace supplier.

What you’ll do

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and customer quotations for precision aero-engine components

• Interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings, models and technical specifications

• Analyse manufacturing processes including CNC milling and turning (3-, 4- and 5-axis), heat treatment and surface treatments

• Liaise with internal engineering, production and quality teams to validate manufacturing routes and assumptions

• Engage with supply chain partners to obtain accurate material costs, subcontract pricing and lead times

• Support Bid / No-Bid decision-making through clear commercial analysis

• Identify cost risks and opportunities, supporting value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives

• Maintain estimating data, cost models and documentation to support auditability and repeatability

• Ensure all estimates align with aerospace regulatory, quality and customer requirements

What we are looking for 

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Estimator role within an aero-engine manufacturing environment (essential)

• Strong technical knowledge of aero-engine components and aerospace materials (e.g. titanium, aluminium, steels, nickel alloys)

• Proven ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and manufacturing processes

• Experience working in a precision machining or aerospace manufacturing environment

• Commercial awareness with the ability to balance competitiveness and profitability

• Confident communicator able to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations and customers

• Strong attention to detail, organisation and analytical skills

• ERP / estimating system experience advantageous (e.g. JobBOSS, Syteline or similar)

• Engineering qualification desirable, though time-served experience is fully accepted

Working Hours

07.15 - 15.45 Monday - Thursday, 07.15 - 12:00 Friday
