Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Ethics Assistant Manager will primarily join the dedicated Ethics team within the Firm’s broader Technical Group. Their role is crucial in maintaining a robust ethical framework, ensuring the Firm stays current with audit independence and other ethical standards. Reporting to the Firm’s Head of Ethics, this individual will collaborate extensively with various teams throughout the organisation.
This position is ideal for an Assistant Manager or Supervisor who is either a qualified accountant with audit experience or someone with a background in applying ethical standards or regulatory frameworks. The candidate should have a passion for analysing laws and regulations and be adept at applying this knowledge to diverse, practical scenarios.
The role demands substantial engagement with the firm’s partners and staff. Hence, the ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills to articulate complex issues to a broad audience, including senior professionals within the Firm.
Core Responsibilities
Ethical Consultations: Responding to ethical and independence queries and consultations from partners and members of staff from across the firm. This involves regular contact with senior members of the firm and resolving their queries accurately, seeking further guidance where necessary
Audit Collaboration: Work closely with audit teams to incorporate ethical considerations into the audit workflow including managing conflicts of interest and upholding professional standards.
Ethical Support: Provide ongoing support and updates to non-audit teams regarding ethical practices especially those that impact audited entities.
Systems Implementation: Support the Head of Ethics and Ethics Partner in establishing and maintaining ethical systems and controls.
Policy Updates: Work closely with the senior members of the ethics team to maintain ethical guidance.
Educational Initiatives: Support the senior members of the Ethics Team in the develop and delivery of learning materials to ensure all the Firm’s people are informed about ethics-related matters and maintain an understanding of their ethical responsibilities.
Compliance Monitoring: Undertake monitoring processes to assess compliance with ethical standards and drafting the findings report for the Ethics Team senior management.
