About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Ethics Investigations Manager to join our growing team in Derby.
What you'll be doing
- Helping to embed a culture of Speaking Up in Balfour Beatty through the effective conduct of investigations including:
- Conducting complex investigations, with limited oversight, across a variety of subject matter areas including ethical misconduct, fraud, bribery, modern slavery and conflicts of interest which will necessitate prioritising and managing multiple investigations concurrently.
- Maintaining appropriate documentary evidence of investigations conducted including investigation plans, investigation reports and interview records.
- Developing standardised investigations procedures and protocols to ensure a consistent approach to the conduct of investigations.
- Leading the development and delivery of investigations training to relevant internal stakeholders involved with conducting and/or supporting investigations. · Providing guidance and counsel to others conducting investigations on appropriate investigation strategies and plans.
- Conducting analysis to identify root causes (including control weaknesses) as part of the conclusion of investigations
- Tracking and monitoring the implementation of recommendations resulting from completed investigations
- Preparing reports and updates on investigations matters to relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Where necessary, providing wider support to the ongoing evolution of the Ethics and Compliance programme and supporting key Ethics and Compliance initiatives.
Who we're looking for
- Experience of conducting complex investigations into compliance topics such as fraud, financial crime, competition law, bribery and corruption and conflicts of interest.
- Experience of working in an in-house role conducting investigations as part of a Compliance, Legal, Investigations or Internal Audit team is preferable.
- Legal or forensic accounting background.
- An ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively at all levels of the organisation. · Good analytical and multi-tasking skills.
- A self-starter who can work independently whilst being able operate as a good team player.
- A good understanding of relevant topics including legal privilege and employment law.
