The Role
As a Sample Collection Driver at ALS, you’ll be responsible for collecting and delivering samples and consumables to clients, drop-off points, and ALS sites. You'll plan efficient routes, ensure timely and safe sample delivery, and maintain vehicle temperature controls. Daily tasks include keeping your van clean, reporting any issues to the Transport Manager, and building strong working relationships with clients and staff. You’ll also follow all health and safety procedures, carry out vehicle checks, and ensure safe loading/unloading.
Hours Per Week: 40
Days Per Week: Monday to Friday (16:00 – 02:00)
Contract: Full Time & Permanent
Annual Salary: £12.60 per hour + £2090 shift allowance per year

The day to day
- Collect and deliver samples and consumables to clients, ALS sites, and drop-off points
- Plan and follow efficient routes to meet client and business needs
- Ensure timely, safe delivery of samples in good condition
- Maintain temperature control and monitor vehicle conditions
- Keep vehicle clean and compliant with quality standards
- Report client feedback, vehicle issues, and potential new business to the Transport Manager
- Build and maintain good working relationships with clients and ALS staff
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including PPE use and manual handling
- Complete vehicle checks and ensure safe, legal driving
- Load and unload the vehicle safely
The Essentials
- Full UK driving licence
- Good knowledge of UK roads
- Previous experience in transport/delivery (preferred)
- Strong communication skills
- Friendly, reliable, and self-motivated
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Smart appearance and professional attitude
- Willingness to follow safety procedures and use PPE
