Event Technical Manager

The FA is looking for an Event Technical Manager to play a key role in delivering world-class events at Wembley Stadium, one of the most iconic sporting and entertainment venues in the world.

Working closely with the Senior Event Technical Manager, this role supports the preparation of the stadium for major and minor events, leads technical coordination during live event delivery, and contributes to stadium operations on non-event days. From international football matches to large-scale concerts and broadcast-led events, this role plays a vital part in ensuring events are delivered safely, smoothly and to the highest technical standards

This is a hands-on, event-facing role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-profile environment and takes pride in technical excellence.

What will you be doing?

• Playing a key role in preparing Wembley Stadium for major and minor events, supporting building readiness and coordinating pre-event action plans.

• Attending pre- and post-event planning meetings, providing technical input and coordinating the FM section of the General Information pack.

• Supporting the planning and delivery of event turnarounds, ensuring appropriate supervision of technical teams and contracted stadium personnel.

• Providing high-quality technical support and advice throughout all stages of event planning, working closely with event managers, clients, local authorities and internal and external partners.

• Auditing the dilapidation process for major and special events, ensuring standards are met and issues are identified and addressed.

• Supporting the management of technical staff, including planning, scheduling, performance and motivation.

• Ensuring all event-related maintenance is carried out safely and in line with manufacturers’ recommendations, warranties and industry best practice.

• Being a visible and hands-on technical presence on event days to support safe, smooth and successful delivery.

• Carrying out additional tasks as required to support the FA’s evolving priorities, while adhering to all policies and procedures relating to health, safety and wellbeing.

• As part of the FA’s commitment to safeguarding and creating a safe environment for everyone in football, all employees are required to complete a DBS check appropriate to the role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

What are we looking for?

• Proven experience across all aspects of technical production in a similar role, supporting large-scale events.

• Strong experience producing and working with technical documentation, including floor plans, schematics and power layouts, with the ability to advise on the most appropriate technical solutions.

• Hands-on experience working with demountable temporary structures, alongside a solid understanding of safe systems of work.

• A recognised health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH, or equivalent.

• Competence in working with temporary electrical systems and a working knowledge of rigging requirements, including working at height and LOLER.

• A sustainable and responsible approach to managing equipment and buildings, combined with a structured, methodical approach to problem solving.

• Practical experience working with audiovisual systems and a genuine willingness to take a hands-on role when required.

• Confidence using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and CAD systems.

• Clear and effective communication skills, with experience supervising teams and managing technical documentation.

• The flexibility to work in line with an event-led operation, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and occasional nights.

Desirable experience:

• Experience with counterbalance forklift trucks and MEWP certification.

• Experience supporting large-scale broadcast operations.

• An advanced health and safety qualification.

• Experience developing others, including apprentices.

• Background experience in leisure or other public assembly venues.

• Knowledge or experience of BMS and HVAC systems.

• Experience delivering major event turnarounds.

• Experience working with pitch covering systems.

• Mechanical engineering or plumbing skills or experience.

• Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is essential and working hours will align with Wembley Stadium’s events calendar.
