- North West Route, covering Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria.
- Central Route, covering the West Midlands and Chiltern areas.
- West Coast South Route, covering the south of Crewe to London Euston.
There is also a Regional Team which supports Regional Major Programmes & Professional services.

Brief Description
Join our team as a Examiner Inspector and play a vital role in delivering high-quality structural inspections. You’ll be responsible for conducting examinations with maximum efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring full compliance with industry standards and client expectations. About The Role (External)
Are you ready to play a vital role in safeguarding the integrity of our infrastructure? We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Examiner Inspector to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for both internal and external candidates who are passionate about structural safety and thrive in dynamic, hands-on environments.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for conducting thorough site examinations of various structures, assessing their condition within defined timescales using the ALARM system. If you’re qualified in roped access, you’ll also carry out specialist inspections in hard-to-reach areas. Your findings will be compiled into detailed condition reports, contributing directly to the safety and performance of our network.
You’ll also support special and sensitive structure examinations, assist with tunnel inspections, and respond rapidly to incidents such as bridge strikes. Your ability to make sound, safety-critical decisions on-site—sometimes under pressure—will be crucial. Additionally, you’ll participate in reconnaissance visits and provide essential support to the Examining Engineers team.

In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be:
- GCSE pass in English Language
- C&G/ NVC Level 3 in any building construction trade (additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu on an individual basis)
- STE 4/ SCMI competent
- Individual Working Alone
- Bridge Strike Examiner
- IT Literate with minimum word processing and drawing application
- Full driving licence
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Work alone with minimum supervision
We would also like but it isn’t crucial to have/to be:
- ONC/HNC level qualification / Technician Engineer (ICE)
- Previous experience in the rail industry and knowledge of railway practice
- Controller of Site Safety/ Engineering Supervisor
- Confined Space Awareness/Training

Salary and benefits:
- Salary: Starting at £31,952 and increasing to £40,510
