The Role
Legal Officer within the Commercial team
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person with a law degree/CILEX Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice and who has experience of working within a legal practice to join the Council’s Commercial team as a Legal Officer.
What will you do?
You will be working across all areas within the Commercial team. This includes property, planning, highways and contracts. You will have your own caseload of more straightforward matters and will also assist Lawyers on larger projects.
You will be drafting and checking sections of legal agreements and contracts including Section 38 and Section 106 agreements in the Planning team. You will be dealing with both general conveyancing and landlord and tenant matters in the Property team which will include elements of bespoke drafting under supervision. You will be supporting colleagues on contracts and procurement related matters. Across all areas you will be undertaking legal research and preparing client advice under supervision.
What will you bring?
To be successful you must have a law degree or CILEX Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice and have experience of working in a legal environment where you are a “team player” and you have demonstrated drafting, analysis of legal issues and communication skills.
The role requires a person with enthusiasm, commitment and motivation to deliver an excellent service.
