We are seeking an Executive Business Development Manager to represent Blackfinch across all products, solutions, funds and services within Asset Management and Tax planning areas. The successful candidate will be covering the Cotswolds, South Wales and South West location.
Role Profile:
The newly appointed Executive Business Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining and growing existing supporters. You will identify and develop new relationships, enabling you to distribute the Blackfinch range of products and solutions, creating long term relationships. You will engage with larger firms and build deep long-lasting partnerships as well as work closely with adviser firms to understand their CIP & CRP proposition, working on a consultative selling basis and demonstrate how Asset Management funds and solutions can support their business and achieve good client outcomes. The Executive BDM will educate and support adviser firms on understanding how and when tax planning products are relevant to their clients plus work closely with the Head of Asset Management and the Head of Tax to ensure targets are delivered in line with your objectives and key performance indicators.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver three qualified leads for TPS, that can be evidenced via the BFAM sales process and are active, each lead is a £50m opportunity.
- Sign up one new client for TPS that invests £50m net within the first six months.
- To maintain and increase new business inflows of £800k per month on a regular and increasing basis for Tax.
- To maintain minimum Tax inflows to achieve a level of £10m on an annual basis.
- To Grow key relationship with Business Owners and develop a collegiate approach through creating a partnership through both Asset Management and Tax products and solutions.
- Demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge across Asset Management and Tax products/solutions, helping advisers to understand the benefit of using asset management and tax products to support their business.
- To professionally manage and further develop activity in the region, such as meetings, presentations, attending events.
- Deliver a consistent and predictable flow of new business for both Asset Management and Tax, in order to meet target requirements,
- Create a pipeline of new business for both Asset Management and Tax, identifying key stages of the life cycle and evidence of likely success of sale.
- Ensure all meetings are recorded on the CRM and opportunities and next steps are clearly identified.
- Use fact find to record, store and provide evidence of adviser journey in the sales process. This will include use of platforms, current solutions for AM and Tax, detailed content on a firms Centralised Investment Proposition/CIP and suggestions on how our solutions can support the adviser.
- Support the Head of Asset Management to deliver sales targets for Asset Management, this includes MPS, TPS and Single Strategy funds, from both the region and across the UK.
- Work closely with the Head of Tax to have regular reviews around tax sales opportunities on a monthly/quarterly basis, this will include review of sales figures, testing product knowledge, planning future activity, understanding the wider tax sales team approach. The Head of Tax will also provide support and guidance on how sales targets can be achieved.
- Attend meetings, events, presentations within the region and across the UK, when required, this will be BFAM specific activity or working closely with a Tax BDM on joint activity.
- You will need to demonstrate a high level of knowledge for Asset management, in order to provide a more consultative sales approach, understanding the needs of the adviser firm, their client’s needs, the impact of Consumer Duty,
- Co-Manufacturing and how BFAM can help support those challenges.
- Work closely with Fund Managers across Blackfinch where relevant, this can include events, Investment Committee meetings, 121’s, webinars or any activity that enhances the Blackfinch brand and helps achieve sales targets. All Fund Manager activity needs to be agreed with line manager and planned effectively.
- Your region will also be supported by an external BDM, focussing on the Tax product range, you will work closely to develop tax opportunities in order to maintain and grow current levels of tax business. The BDM will also be responsible for identifying Asset Management sales leads, to be managed by the Executive BDM.
- Achieve a high level of activity within the Region, it is a requirement of this role to deliver 10 meetings per weeks, primary focus is Asset Management but will include Tax, in order to meet targets.
- Distribution Sales Executive within BFAM will work closely with you, to help identify new sales leads, using our CRM and third-party data analysis tools, enabling you to have a targeted approach to delivering BFAM new business.
- IBDM team will provide you with support for your tax clients, this is both sales and support, this will also include access to the client excellence team, who provide administrative support for the Tax side.
- Ensure you have a good understanding of the wider business, to include Investment Operations, HR, Risk, Marketing and Compliance, it is key to create strong relationships across the Blackfinch group.
- Be the first point of contact for all adviser queries and distribute to the support team where relevant.
- Work closely with the Investment Team for BFAM, develop a strong understanding of our Investment Process and Philosophy to ensure a consistent message is delivered to clients.
- Ensure all events, MQl’s are followed up and provide evidence of outcomes to Line Manager and the wider business.
- Demonstrate competence at presenting, 121, within the team and external to clients and events.
- Follow up all leads provided by the sales team and ensure evidence of outcomes, provided.
- Ensure telephone follow ups to seminars with every attendee ensuring all feedback is logged.
- Attend Due Diligence meetings with potential partner firms.
- Attend update meetings with existing partner firms.
Skills & Experience
- At least 5 year’s experience of success in asset management or tax planning.
- Known and evidenced performance v targets.
- Have a minimum of 3 year’s experience in using a database and CRM systems.
- Relevant and professional qualifications
- Have a good working knowledge of all Microsoft programmes.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with this level of role as requested by either any member of the Blackfinch Wealth team or Blackfinch Senior Management Team.

Essential Qualifications
- Diploma in Financial Services or equivalent.
- Hold a minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent professional / academic qualification.
- Currently working towards or willing to work towards Chartered status in Financial Services or equivalent.
