To build a fair education for all, we need to unlock the potential in all children – not just some. Together, we’re making it happen. Every day, our work takes us closer to a better future. But we need to do more. It’s a big challenge – and we need your help to take it on.

Teach First is a charity that believes education is the most powerful tool to help a child fulfil their potential. We find and train teachers to work in the schools that need them most, we equip school leaders with evidence-led training, we support local teacher training providers, and we plug education leaders into supportive professional networks. We are a community, working within the classroom and beyond, to bring an end to educational inequality. Because a child’s future shouldn’t depend on their postcode.

As an Executive Director, you will focus on driving strategic priorities, collaborating to break down silos, and ensuring efforts and resources are used effectively. You will demonstrate commercial capability and decision making. Informed by a clear sense of what our impact can be and driven by strong belief in the power of education to change lives, you will inspire our people to deliver on our purpose. As a champion of our culture, you will build an inclusive, transparent place to work, where colleagues can take ownership, deliver at pace and work with integrity. Setting the vision, and leading delivery, you will not only take accountability for our results in your area, but also for creating and sustaining engagement in our mission that changes lives.

  • Are you a seasoned leader with strong commercial mindset and experience of resource-focussed financial leadership in the public or charity sector, and of creating value in resource-constrained environments?
  • Do you have extensive experience of leading strategy implementation across an Executive team; a proven track record of collaboratively delivering business transformation?
  • Do you have a professional accounting qualification – ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent?
  • Do you have experience of negotiating and managing significant government or commercial contracts?
  • Do you have experience of overseeing and directing organisational planning and performance, to ensure delivery of strategy?
  • Do you have experience leading large-scale financial transformation projects that have delivered significant cost savings and process efficiencies?
  • Are you a collaborative, influential and collegiate leader, able to work across silos and bring people together around shared goals whilst delivering with pace and progress?
  • Do you have demonstrable history of advancing diversity and developing inclusive culture within your organisation?

Yes to the above? Then we want to hear from you. You might be our next Executive Director Finance and Performance!
