Our Expert Advisors provide specialist advice to support business managers across HMRC on a full range of complex HR issues in accordance with HR policies and guidance, to assist resolving workplace matters quickly and proportionately.

These are high profile posts in a busy, demand led, digital environment, so we are looking for motivated, confident and enthusiastic individuals.

The role is a case support role focussed on supporting the formal HR processes with an awareness of informal resolution. Due to the nature of our work we need the successful candidate to be flexible, willing to cover all elements of EAS work as required.

It is an exciting time to join our team as we are going through a Change Programme, digitalising our advice centre and improving how we work. This will enable us to work more efficiently, allowing us to support our customers more effectively.

Job Description

The team delivers a high-quality professional HR service which includes:

• Providing expert advice to employees and managers with complex HR formal decisions, up to and including dismissal and into formal litigation as needed.
• Managing a range of complex HR cases effectively, encouraging decision managers to progress their case to completion timeously.
• Encourage decision managers to communicate with all parties throughout the case, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
• Supporting all employees in resolving workplace issues quickly to ‘nip it in the bud’, adopting a range of Dispute Resolution options to resolve concerns without recourse to formal grievances.

Essential Criteria

• Proven experience in handling employee relation cases, including disciplinary, grievances and absence management.
• Knowledge/awareness of employment law with the ability to apply effectively in casework.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, manage sensitive conversations and influence stakeholders.

• CIPD qualification or a willingness to work towards.
• Qualified mediator and/or experience of informal workplace resolution.

Hybrid working at HMRC
