External Communications Manager

The Opportunity

My client, a FTSE listed real estate and logistics provider, is seeking a Communications Manager to support the function in delivering high-impact campaigns that enhance the organisation’s reputation across media, digital, and stakeholder channels.

This is a hands-on role that will shape how the organisation is perceived by key audiences, with a strong focus on press and media relations, content creation and social media.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver multi-channel communications campaigns aligned with business priorities
• Create and activate proactive media and social media plans to support reputation and visibility
• Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets and prepare spokespeople for engagements
• Manage day-to-day relationships with PR agencies to ensure quality and value
• Oversee corporate social media channels, including content planning, creation, and performance tracking
• Support issues and crisis communications, including horizon scanning and reactive media handling
• Collaborate across departments and geographies to ensure consistent messaging and efficient use of resources
• Analyse and report on communications activity to demonstrate impact and identify improvements
• Coordinate award submissions and manage internal reporting on media coverage

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Experience in a communications role, ideally within corporate, property, or agency environments
• Strong media relations skills and a proven ability to secure positive coverage
• Excellent writing and editing skills across formats (press releases, social posts, briefings)
• Experience managing social media platforms and content calendars
• Strong organisational and project management capabilities
• Confident stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
• Familiarity with AI and design tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) – desirable
• Experience in crisis communications and paid social media campaigns – desirable
