What will I be doing?
The Facilities Management Team provides premises management, health, and safety statutory checks, assists with incident control, financial and procurement administration. We act as first point of contact for building users. We are a busy team, and each day brings interesting challenges and tasks.
We currently have a vacancy for enthusiastic and motivated Facilities Caretaker who is resilient, have excellent technical, administrative and customer service skills and a natural problem solver to join our small, high profile facilities management team.
Although we are looking for someone who has experience in a health and safety environment or a similar role, we are seeking people with transferable skills and backgrounds.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:
- Have experience in a similar role, with basic building maintenance knowledge.
- Take pride in your work, have great work ethic and want to play your part in creating a welcoming and safe environment.
- Have experience of using Word, Excel and Outlook.
You’ll be joining a small friendly team of staff providing a caretaking and basic maintenance and repairs service, as well as admin support across our facilities management sites. As a Facilities Assistant your varied duties will include:
- Caretaking duties - including opening County Hall and securing it in the evening, regular health and safety checks and assisting with Incident control.
- Carrying out portering duties, such as moving furniture.
- Carrying out minor repairs to furniture, office fittings and occasionally office fabric, straightforward carpentry and construction in relation to our offices.
- Assisting in the post room – sorting, scanning, franking & delivering mail
- Weekly Health and Safety Tours, Legionella checks, emergency lighting checks, panic alarm testing, fire alarm testing and evac chair checks.
- Providing front office cover support for Facilities Management – answering phones, emails and walk-in enquiries from internal customers.

Experience in a health and safety environment or premises management role is preferred but not essential as training will be given.
