Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of families and children? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and motivated Family Support Worker to join our Central Family Hub team, providing essential support to families in our community.

The Role

Responsibilities

As a Family Support Worker, you will be the first point of contact for families accessing the Central Family Hub. You will work collaboratively with families to identify their needs and provide appropriate support and guidance. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality family support services, ensuring the well-being and development of children
  • Conducting assessments to identify individual family needs
  • Working in partnership with families to develop and implement support plans
  • Providing advice, guidance, and practical assistance to families
  • Collaborating with other professionals and agencies to ensure holistic support
  • Facilitating access to relevant services and resources
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress, providing feedback to families
  • As part of the Central Family Hub, you will also work closely with other professionals to deliver integrated services, ensuring families receive comprehensive support across education, health, and social care.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience in providing family support services, ideally within a local authority or similar setting
  • Sound knowledge of child development and the challenges faced by families
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with families and professionals
  • Strong assessment and intervention skills, with the ability to identify and address individual needs
  • Ability to work independently, managing a caseload effectively
  • Team player, collaborating with colleagues to ensure coordinated support
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures
  • A relevant level 3 or above qualification in early years, social care, education, or a related field is essential.
