About YOTEL
YOTEL is a rapidly expanding, affordable luxury hotel brand with 23 hotels currently operating and 10+ under construction across our three innovative brands: YOTEL, YOTELAIR, and YOTELPAD. We're on an ambitious trajectory to reach 50 hotels globally by 2030, and we're looking for passionate individuals to join our journey.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Architecturally trained individual with a flair for creative problem-solving and a passion for hospitality design. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to transition into a Feasibility Design Manager role within YOTEL's dynamic Technical Services and Business Development team. Based in Central London, you'll play a crucial role in our global expansion, evaluating prospective projects across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of our growth, supporting the Business Development team by conducting detailed design feasibilities for potential YOTEL projects. You'll blend creative thinking with technical expertise to optimize room counts, facility mixes, and overall area programs, all while ensuring an exceptional guest experience and strong property performance. The project ranges will be diverse; from hotel conversions, adaptive reuse schemes through to ground up projects as either HMA, Franchise or Lease models.
What You'll Do
As a Feasibility Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Design Feasibilities: Lead the appraisal of potential YOTEL projects by performing thorough site visits and desktop evaluations for new builds, conversions, and renovations. This involves creatively optimizing room count, facilities mix, and area programming to achieve brand standards and maximize performance.
- Developing Property Improvement Plans (PIPs): Undertake PIPs for future projects, including producing scopes of work and cost plans with clear recommendations.
- Ensuring Brand Compliance: Review concept drawings and specification submittals, providing comprehensive written recommendations and approvals for internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing Design Standards: Maintain and regularly update our international hotel planning code database and internal brand standards documentation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new project Owners and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinating External Teams: Manage and coordinate external design team members and third-party consultants on both ground-up and conversion projects.
- Brand Standard Oversight: Track, document, and audit all brand standard changes, evaluating their commercial and contractual implications.
- Project Lifecycle Management: Take ownership of the early stages of feasibility project development, ensuring a smooth handover to Senior Design Managers within Technical Services.
- Leading Design Workshops: Chair design and construction workshops with Ownership and Design Teams worldwide, demonstrating flexibility to accommodate different time zones.
- Work within the wider YOTEL ESG team as the Technical Services representative. This will include liaising with other departments and properties to support the important ESG certification work.
- Lead the Brand Standards Specification ESG accreditation.
What We're Looking For
- Education: A recognized architectural degree, with a RIBA Part II/III qualification or equivalent.
- Experience: 3+ years of project running experience within the architectural industry, specifically with exposure to the hotel or serviced apartment sectors.
- Design Expertise: A strong understanding of both architectural and interior hospitality design, coupled with in-depth knowledge of accessibility, planning codes, and technical requirements in hospitality.
- Software Proficiency: Strong skills in AutoCAD and BIM software (Archicad or Revit), freehand sketching, Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design), and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Language Skills: Fluent in both spoken and written English. Additional languages are a plus.
- Problem-Solving & Proactiveness: A proactive individual who can think critically, work independently, and effectively within a team.
- Commercial Acumen: Commercially minded with experience reviewing contracts and legal documentation.
- Adaptability & Travel: Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and a willingness to travel regularly, sometimes at short notice.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas verbally, in writing, and graphically. Strong interpersonal skills that build trust and confidence with external stakeholders.
- Discretion: Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
