HMS Belfast is a Second World War Light Cruiser moored on the River Thames and is a branch of IWM. HMS Belfast has an engaged family audience of visitors, as well as the successful Kip in a Ship experience for schools and formal groups. We are launching a Birthday Party experience to further expand IWM’s engagement with young audiences.
We require a team of fee paid Birthday Party Hosts to launch this experience. As a Birthday Party Host aboard the HMS Belfast, you will lead groups of up to 20 children and the supervising adults, on an immersive 2-hour adventure to recover lost animals scattered across the ship. Playing a lively, recreational character, you’ll guide participants through engaging activities like decoding Morse code and solving clues to uncover the animals while weaving in the fascinating history of HMS Belfast.
You’ll inspire teamwork, award crew badges upon mission completion, and keep the energy high despite mischievous "tricksters" challenging the group. Your role ensures a seamless experience, including an activity trail, lunch in a private area, and post-party admission to the ship, creating unforgettable memories for all. You will be expected to learn the content for delivery of this experience, as well as a wider understanding of the history of HMS Belfast and those who lived and worked on board. You will be supported in your learning via shadowing and take a test prior to being signed off as a Birthday Party Host.
