Grade UOE05: £29,588 - £33,951 per annum

CAHSS / School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures

Full-Time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-Term: 2 years

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Finance Administrator (UE05) to join the School Office Team within the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures to ensure a consistent approach and an efficient and effective customer service. Contributing to the continuous development and improvement of the school finance services function.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will support the management, organisation and operation of the School’s finances, working closely with the Finance Co-ordinator and Finance Business Partner reviewing the monthly reports and reconciliations of all budgets, ensuring inconsistencies are resolved in a timely manner, to meet forecasting deadlines.

Experience of financial processing and budgeting with effective communication, data literacy, and time-management skills are essential for this role.

Your Skills And Attributes For Success

  • Vocational qualifications (N/SVQ 3, ONC or equivalent), plus work experience in a relevant role OR school education to Standard Grade / National 5 or equivalent plus work experience in the unit or comparable setting.
  • Previous experience of financial processing and budgeting.
  • A good working knowledge of the Microsoft package, particularly Excel.
  • Pro-active approach to seeking out information, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, take initiative and find proactive solutions, contribute new ideas to projects, work unsupervised, under pressure and multitask effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, especially financial information to non-finance users, with good interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, open-minded and enthusiastic attitude with ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new skills, particularly digital skills.

The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures (LLC) is one of the largest Schools in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Edinburgh.
