About The Role
Goodlord’s mission is to provide the best renting experience in the world and we’re on the hunt for a finance assistant reporting to our senior payments and finance executive.
Goodlord is responsible for processing millions of pounds of rent for its letting agents. This role is critical in ensuring that our customers are receiving rental payments in a timely manner.
No two days are ever the same at Goodlord so what you’ll be up to will vary. The pace we move at also means priorities will change and you’ll need to be comfortable with this (we’ll support you!). But these are the things that will be core to your role and will keep you busy.
The Day To Day Stuff
Payments (50% of your focus will be on Payments)
- Reconciling our client monies account daily
- Ensuring that our accounting system always balances against supporting records and that we are always audit ready
- Making daily payouts to our customers from our client account
- Keeping all client account ledgers up to date and reconciled with our current accounts
- Dealing with customer, payment supplier & internal queries related to payments
- Supporting payments products functions, including creating processes around new products, reconciliations, and new payment methods
- Ownership of ad hoc payments projects alongside Senior Payments and Finance Executive (Payments) as and when required.

Wider finance activities (the remaining 50% of your time will be spent here)
- Assisting with core finance activities including but not limited to chasing customers, improving billing processes and balance sheet reconciliations alongside the Finance manager/Snr Finance Manager, hopefully you will spot improvements that can be made too!
- Taking the lead on initiatives across the business to facilitate and improve finance analysis of our products.
About You
You should apply if you have:
- Strong numerical skills, being part of our finance team this is essential - No surprises there though!
- Strong knowledge of Excel and ability to use formulas such as sumifs, xlookup
- Experience working within a finance team, ideally reconciling high numbers of transactions
- Exceptional verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers - via phone, email, hangout and in-person
- Exceptional organisational skills and a proven ability in prioritising effectively and meeting deadlines, working without supervision where required
- A proactive and diligent approach, with a willingness to ‘roll up your sleeves’, and the persistence to follow issues through to completion
- The drive to improve things and confidence to ask questions and deep dive into the detail
- We move at pace at Goodlord, therefore you need to be flexible and adaptable!
- Experience working within a finance team, ideally reconciling high numbers of transactions
It Would Be Great If You Have
- experience using xero.
