Job Description
Main Duties & Accountabilities
The Financial Business Partner Will Play a Pivotal Role In Driving Catch22’s New Strategic Plan By Working Alongside The Head Of Commercial Finance, Finance Director And Operational Senior Leadership Teams To Secure The Continued Financial Strength Of The Organisation. They Will Achieve This By:
- Forming strong, professional and productive relationships in order to work with our executive team to deliver the strategic plan;
- Providing timely and insightful advice to directors using their strong analytical skills and report writing abilities to help inform strategic decisions;
- Using their commercial experience and acumen to contribute to the identification, development and implementation of new business opportunities;
- Taking the lead on specific business projects e.g. systems development, process improvement, financial planning, securing project funding and the evaluation of potential mergers and acquisitions;
- Deputising for the Finance Directorate as appropriate at internal executive meetings and with key external stakeholders.
The Finance Business Partner Will:
- Ensure the production of timely, high quality management accounts, insightful commentary and any other information as may be required by the Directorate(s) Senior Leadership Team and the Finance Director;
- Review the financial performance and risks and opportunities of the Directorate(s) on a monthly basis for review by the Finance Director;
- Lead the annual budget setting and three year planning process for the Directorate(s), periodically reforecasting expected financial performance against those plans;
- Design and deliver analysis, using their advanced excel skills and MI system knowledge, to drive improved understanding of profitability and provide relevant and pragmatic insight and analysis to improve strategic and operational decision making
- Demonstrate a clear and in-depth understanding of the key contracts, financial performance and risks and opportunities, within each area of the Directorate, ensuring that the financial performance of the business is optimised, and become a trusted advisor to the Leadership Team;
- Lead the commercial aspects of business development projects – providing a review and challenge function to operational and business development leads to ensure the commercial strategy developed for each business development opportunity is appropriate and aligned to the organisation’s wider strategy;
- Critically reviewing contractual and other legal documentation to identify key organisational risks and issues and driving the development of risk mitigation strategies;
- Supervising direct reports within the immediate business partnering team, and mentoring others within the wider finance function.
What does good look like for this role?
You will possess a professional accounting qualification, with relevant Charity knowledge.
You will have all-round experience of planning, budgeting and forecasting, and able to provide and analyse management accounts, using strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills, to support both finance and non-finance staff effectively.
You can provide timely and insightful advice to directors using strong analytical skills and report writing abilities to help inform strategic decisions, whilst also being constructively challenging.
You will have the ability to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to work, able and comfortable to work unsupervised and work across teams to solve problems, with the ability to manage various priorities and have the knack to work within deadlines
You will demonstrate the ability to be a quick learner and a hands-on individual
Organisational Relationships
The Finance Business Partner Will:
- Report to the Head of Commercial Finance and contribute to the delivery of the organisational three year Strategic Plan;
- Establish a key working relationship with the Head of Financial Management and Business Partner colleagues;
- Line manage direct reports, with the potential for the team to grow in accordance with future business needs;
- Proactively work with non-finance managers to ensure that the finance function becomes embedded in the business and provides value adding and innovative commercial/financial services, advice and support;
- Liaise with external stakeholders, e.g. funders, commissioners, and auditors as appropriate.

Contract: Fixed-term - 6 months
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Salary: £50,000
