We are now looking for two Finance Business Partners to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 35 hours per week.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of IIED’s operations by providing expert financial insight and strategic advice to IIED’s research teams and management to enable good decision making.
What’s more, as a trusted financial management advisor, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the organisation. You are valued for your technical financial expertise and ability to develop and communicate actionable insights to guide decisions, developing options and scenarios which clearly lay out the opportunities and risks for the organisation.
The Role
The Finance Business Partner engages fully in complex discussions and decisions including but not limited to, multi-year, multi-funder, multi-country projects, acting as a valued and trusted business partner and financial advisor to the teams they support. They work closely with Programme and Project Managers to identify income opportunities, develop proposal budgets, assess value for money, ensure robust financial management throughout the project lifecycle, strengthen financial sustainability, and provide early financial risk indicators through structured financial health checks and dashboards.
Additionally, you will:
- Monitor financial performance
- Develop and manage dashboards to track financial health indicators
- Collaborate on invoicing and aged debt management to optimise cash flow
- Provide financial training and guidance to project teams
About You
To be considered as a Finance Business Partner, you will need:
- To be qualified with a recognised professional body such as CIMA, ACCA or ACA or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience in financial business partnering within an international NGO, non-profit, or research institution, with a focus on project finance
- Experience leading multi-year, multi-partner, multi-currency projects
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration across teams
- Expert knowledge of donor funding regulations, complex compliance requirements across institutional funders, and financial reporting requirements for restricted and unrestricted income
- In-depth knowledge of cost allocation methodologies
- Expert financial analysis, planning, budgeting, and forecasting skills
- Expertise on financial modelling, scenario planning and sensitivity analysis
- Proficiency in financial systems, data analysis and Excel-based financial modelling, with experience in developing dashboards and financial performance tracking tools
You are likely to be working from home most of the time. As such, you will need a suitable place to work and a reliable, fast internet connection.
