How You’ll Play Your Part

In this role, you will provide leadership to the Financial Operations team for all UK Financial Service businesses with responsibility for providing financial information to Head Office, Auditors, HMRC and the Business.

Main Accountabilities

You are required to maintain ethical standards in accordance with Mercedes-Benz AG Policies and the Company's Compliance Guidelines and Policies including Anti-Bribery and all relevant competition law. You are also required to act with integrity, with due care and skill in our customers’ best interests and to abide by any other individual conduct rule required by the Financial Conduct Authority.

  • Manage the preparation and delivery of monthly financial statements for all divisions and companies including MBFS and MBIS, providing segmented reporting where required on brands, divisions etc. This includes the management of data from outsource providers and submission of data into head office, including commentary highlighting the exceptions.
  • Manage the entire external audit process; ensuring that all data is provided, team members are capable of explaining their areas of responsibility and that the auditors are able to meet the requirements set by Group. Represent the business in the audit meetings alongside the CFO/Head of Accounting. From time to time also support internal audits conducted by group.
  • Staff development and performance management; including monitoring and promoting the training and development needs for staff, provide ideas to resolve problems and resource-related issues.
  • Ensure completion of statutory reporting, including submission of quarterly consolidated VAT return when needed and Internal Control files for all divisions. Also responsible for reviewing FCA reporting, ensuring deadlines are met together with the quality of the submissions that meet banking and reporting requirements.
  • Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process across all entities, using OPIs to ensure they are cleared effectively, and the organisation has no financial exposure accruing from open uncleared items. Oversee and approve the Internal Controls (ICS) associated with the Financial Statements, providing assurance that adequate controls are in place to manage the accounting risks of the business.
  • Manage provisions against the risks of the business in line with IFRS requirements, aligning with Risk Operations team to understand specific provisions and trend movements.
  • Manage other requirements as instructed by the CFO/Head of departments and work closely with other finance staff to support the implementation of process efficiencies, provide technical advice and cover where appropriate.
  • Support Project Accounting and Tax topics when required.

About You

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent professional exams.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards (UK GAAP & IFRS).
  • Comprehensive VAT and tax knowledge as will be supporting teams.
  • Excel (advanced level) with experience of using a variety of functions.
  • SAP (good knowledge would be advantageous).
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve results whilst promoting company behavioural values.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task to meet specified deadlines.
  • A strong team player with the ability to learn tasks quickly and make appropriate decisions.
  • Possess analytical, investigative and strong reconciliation skills.
  • Possess good time-management skills, with own responsibility for planning and prioritising workload the majority of the time.
  • Proven staff management and development skills.
  • Effective communicator to Finance and non-Finance staff of all levels.
