Role Overview
The role of the Financial Accountant is to ensure that sound accounting practice is followed by EAB plc. Reporting to Head Office, tax authorities and liaising with external auditors is considered a key part of the role. The role demands both the execution of controls within the Financial Control function and the ability to foster and enforce a strong control environment within the wider Department and Bank. The role also calls for flexibility and to cover a range of finance roles and responsibilities as the situation demands.
Principal Accountabilities and Duties
- Delivery of the monthly close process, analysing transactions and preparing required journals.
- Assist with the production of Group Reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register, and capitalisation, depreciation and disposal of assets.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements, including providing information and evidence to the external audit team.
- Preparation of VAT and Corporate Tax Return and associated reconciliations.
- Performance of daily reconciliations between front and back office systems.
- Maintain a flexible approach and undertake various adhoc projects as and when required.
Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications
- Educated to degree level with extensive banking experience, particularly in financial reporting and local taxation
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or part-qualified and actively working towards full qualification
- Knowledge of accounting for banking products
- Good understanding of finance related IT infrastructure and software
