Interim Financial Controller – Infrastructure

Location: London (2 days per week onsite)

Contract Type: Interim (6 months, with temp-to-perm opportunity)

Day Rate: £550–£650 per day (outside IR35)

A rapidly scaling infrastructure business, backed by a leading large-cap private equity investor, is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to lead and stabilise core finance operations during a period of transformation and growth. With projected revenues of £43m in 2025 and ambitions to reach £60m by 2028 through both organic and acquisition-led growth, this is a great time to join this business.

This role is critical to ensuring robust financial control, enabling performance visibility, and building a fit-for-purpose finance function capable of supporting the next phase of growth. It offers the potential to transition into a permanent leadership role.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Control

• Ownership of monthly management accounts and reporting packs
• Full balance sheet reconciliations and controls
• Statutory accounts preparation and audit lead

Transactional Finance Oversight

• Oversight of AP / AR functions and working capital processes
• Design and implement process improvements and controls
• Lead system enhancements across GL, AP, AR, PO modules

Strategic Planning & Analysis

• Lead the annual budget process and reforecasting cycles
• Build financial models to support investment cases, funding rounds, and business planning
• Enhance data visualisation through tools like Power BI / Tableau / Qlik

Business Partnering

• Work closely with the CFO and wider leadership team
• Provide clear, commercial insight to support decision-making
• Operate comfortably across both strategic and hands-on levels

Leadership & Culture

• Lead and mentor a growing finance team (1-3 SSC, 1FBP, 1 MA, 1 Modeller)
• Build a high-performance culture aligned with PE expectations
• Foster cross-functional collaboration across the business

Essentials:

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
• Experience within infrastructure, energy, or industrial services environments
• Strong understanding of private equity-backed operating models
• Proven leadership experience
• Demonstrated ability to scale finance functions in high-growth, fast-paced businesses
• Capable of balancing detail orientation with strategic thinking
• Gravitas and communication skills to engage at C-suite and investor level
