Financial Controller - Investment Management

Job Purpose

Due to continued growth and expansion my client a rapidly growing Alternative Investment Manager has an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a high performing Finance team. This senior position will be responsible for overseeing group financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and key operational finance processes. Reporting to the Finance Director and based in central London, the successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening the Finance function and supporting the evolving needs of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the month-end close process for group entities
• Overseeing the preparation and submission of financial regulatory reports, including coordination with the Compliance team, implementation of new regulatory requirements, and forecasting of regulatory capital
• Preparing group consolidated accounts
• Managing statutory accounts and coordinating the year-end audit process for the group
• Overseeing the administration and financial reporting of the group’s co-investment vehicle, including the preparation of information for limited partnership tax filings and management of related loan schemes
• Managing the financial operations of the employee shareholding scheme, including oversight of administration, account preparation, and loan scheme management
• Managing and developing two direct reports
• Developing and maintaining group accounting policies and procedures
• Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and control of financial reporting
• Supporting strategic initiatives and providing ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed

Person Specification

• Degree educated (2:1 or above) or equivalent
• Fully qualified accountant with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience
• A minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role within financial or professional services
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
• Highly organised, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong team player with a high level of integrity and a proactive, hands-on approach
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and senior stakeholders
• Demonstrates resilience and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Familiarity with accounting software systems, ideally Microsoft Business Central
