Description

Embarrassed to call yourself an accountant? Don’t worry - you’re not alone.

Accounting is stuck in the past.

So, we get stuck doing boring, monotonous work as a small cog in tedious firms, or struggling to make an impact in businesses that don’t really care.

We’re looking for those who crave more - more responsibility and more impact - and want to keep progressing and learning with a group of people just like them.

Sound like you? Read on...

RORA is hiring a FinOps (Finance Operations) Manager to innovate, streamline, and scale finance operations across multiple startups. You'll likely have qualified in practice and currently work as a Management Accountant, Finance Manager or Finance Business Partner or similar. This role has an in-office requirement of 3-days pw so you'll need to live within commutable distance of London.

meet RORA

RORA builds fractional Finance teams for startups and scaleups, giving you access to some of the most exciting and innovative businesses in the world. We offer the security of being an employee, the variety of contracting, and the support and development opportunities of a big firm.

the Role

You’ll run our Partner's finance functions covering both operational and financial tasks and processes (it’s not just about the numbers!) Collaborating across all business functions, you’ll implement impactful solutions i.e. finance tools, software, controls/processes and automations. Many of our FinOps Managers have progressed into Head of Finance roles thanks to the exposure gained with RORA.

the general scope of work:

  • You'll be embedded within multiple UK startups and scaleups (2 - 5 across a typical working week)
  • Managing all Finance and Ops processes across multiple partners, ensuring best-in-class operations and accurate financial reporting
  • Analysing the system and process needs of your assigned partners
  • Optimising processes and building scalable solutions to make each finance function an engine for growth
  • Building relationships across RORA's FinOps team and your assigned partners to innovate and problem-solve together
  • Switching between different startups, projects and priorities whilst communicating regularly to manage expectations with stakeholders
  • Coaching and developing the FinOps Associate team

your track record should include:

  • A minimum of 5 years in finance and accounting (accounting firm and startup/scaleup ideally)
  • Chartered status (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Confident managing all management reporting and essential financial processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Exposure to cloud based financial software such as Xero, Quickbook’s, Sage etc
  • Excellent communication in both written and spoken English

it’s probably not for you if…

  • You crave structure and predictability - we believe in moving fast and iterating on the go
  • You prefer direction - startups run lean and you should be self-sufficient in figuring things out for yourself
  • You require focus on individual tasks - variety is the spice of RORA life, meaning you won’t be bored doing the same thing day in day out
