I'm seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to strengthen my clients existing team, focusing on the development and support of UEFI BIOS and related low-level firmware for advanced computing products.
About the Role
Based not far from Reading (Hybrid and flexible working).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain UEFI BIOS and bootloader firmware.
- Integrate board-level hardware (PCIe, USB, Ethernet, I2C, GPIO, UART, etc).
- Collaborate with hardware designers across product definition, prototype bring-up, and validation.
- Assist with test plan definition, hardware debugging, and customer issue resolution.
- Contribute to security feature implementation and work closely with architects and cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- In-depth experience with UEFI BIOS or similar bootloader firmware.
- Proficiency in Embedded C for x86, PowerPC, or advanced ARM.
- Hands-on experience working with hardware at register level.
- Strong debugging/problem-solving skills, ability to interpret schematics/datasheets.
- Clear communicator, effective in both independent and team-based environments.
- Eligible for BPSS Clearance.

Pay range and compensation package
Salary range: £65,000–£80,000, depending on experience.
