This post will be based on an acute care of the elderly ward at the West Suffolk Hospital. The ward is staffed by 3 consultants in geriatric medicine, and, Foundation trainees, 3 SHO level trainees and one IMT3/ST3+ level doctor.
This is a 27 bed ward admitting patients with a wide variety of renal disorders (including but not limited to Acute Kidney injury, Chronic kidney disease, patients with a renal transplant, patients requiring dialysis, patients with glomerulonephritis/ vasculitis). There are also patients admitted with a variety of acute medical conditions, providing opportunity to manage and experience a wide spectrum of clinical conditions. The ward is staffed by 3 Consultant Nephrologists, alongside Foundation trainees, 2 SHO level trainees and additionally two IMT3/ST3+ level trainees.
This role is scheduled to start in August and will run until February. Therefore, only candidates who are available to commence employment from August should apply for this position.

- Work as part of team to provide best medical management to patients under your care.
- Supervise and teach more junior staff on the ward.
- Liaise with relatives and carers.
- Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Lead Medical Team during on calls and out of hours, including management of cardiac arrest calls.
