We’re looking for a Fleet Manager (Technical) to join our Technical team at Bibby Marine Limited. This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Liverpool office, with travel to vessels and Floating Accommodation Barges (FABs).

What You’ll Be Doing


You’ll lead the technical management of assigned vessels and FABs, ensuring they’re safe, compliant, and optimised for performance. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the technical team, ensuring efficiency and high standards.
  • Overseeing all statutory, regulatory, and class certification for vessels and FABs.
  • Working with the Fleet Manager (Operations) to prepare and control annual budgets, monitor running costs, and review forecasts.
  • Maintaining and improving planned maintenance systems, spares inventories, and repair schedules.
  • Approving dry docking specifications, monitoring repair programmes, and assessing upgrade requests with cost-benefit analysis.
  • Ensuring vessels are adequately staffed and that crew are fully inducted and trained in safety systems.
  • Leading and supporting internal, external, and client audits, ensuring timely close-out of actions.
  • Regularly visiting vessels to monitor performance and inspection standards.
  • Playing an active role in emergency response situations.


What We’re Looking For


  • A qualified Class 1 Marine Engineer with at least 10 years in senior roles within the shipping industry, both onshore and offshore.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to engage teams and drive performance.
  • A rigorous approach to safety, quality, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, with confidence in client-facing situations.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with integrated management systems.
