For the first time ever, our Academy is open to applicants in Manchester – not just London.

Please note: We’re especially keen to hear from people who already live in these locations, as being local means, you’ll spend far less time travelling between clients and far more time doing what you do best – building relationships and making an impact on site.

Who we’re looking for:

We know breaking into a new industry can be tough, so our Academy is designed to develop the next generation of Food Safety professionals – no years of auditing experience required.

All you need is:

• Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent) – essential
• A genuine passion for food safety and hospitality
• Willingness to travel and work with different clients
• Full driving licence (depending on location)

Whether you’re:

• A graduate in Environmental Health looking to put theory into practice
• Working in hospitality and ready for more regular hours
• An H&S professional wanting to specialise in food safety

What You’ll Get with the Food Alert Academy

• Earn While You Learn

From day one, you’re on our team, on our payroll, and on your way to becoming a qualified Food Safety Consultant. No unpaid “experience” here – you’ll be trained and paid at the same time.

This role starts at £30,000 with a clear glide path to £35,000 and then beyond as your competency and confidence grow.

Shadow our expert consultants on real hospitality audits, from busy restaurant kitchens to high-end hotels. You’ll see food safety in action, ask questions on the spot, and learn exactly how it’s done.

We don’t just hand you a manual and wish you luck. You’ll have a step-by-step plan, regular check-ins, and clear milestones so you know exactly when you’re ready to fly solo as a Food Safety Consultant.

• Do I need experience in food safety already?

Not necessarily – if you have a Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent), we can teach you the rest through our Academy programme.

• Where are the roles based?

We have opportunities in London and Manchester. You’ll need to be able to travel to client sites, so a driving licence is required for most locations.

• How long until I become a Consultant?

Everyone’s pace is different, but most Academy members are ready for their first solo audits within 6–9 months.

• What kind of clients will I work with?

Mainly hospitality businesses – from restaurants and pubs to hotels and leisure venues – so no two days are the same.

• Do I have to love hospitality to do this job?

It helps! Our clients are passionate about what they do, so being genuinely interested in food, service, and great customer experiences will make your work a lot more fun.

• Will I ever be bored?

Not a chance. Every day is different – one day you might be auditing a Michelin-star kitchen, the next you’re in a high-volume hotel or a quirky street food venue.
