Role Overview

We are looking for a talented Full Stack Developer to join our growing engineering team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a remote-first role, with occasional travel to Manchester as required for collaboration and project needs.

You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, cloud-native applications using modern technologies and microservices architecture

. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the stack, thrives in event-driven environments, and has strong experience delivering solutions on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs
Build and support microservices-based architectures
Develop backend services using Node.js (JavaScript) and Java
Implement event-driven systems using Kafka and AWS SQS
Create and manage infrastructure using Terraform (IaC)
Containerise applications using Docker
Deploy and manage services on AWS ECS
Integrate authentication and authorisation using AWS Cognito
Collaborate using GitLab for version control, CI/CD, and code reviews
Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making

Required Skills & Experience

Strong experience with Node.js (JavaScript) and Java

Solid understanding of REST APIs

Hands-on experience with Kafka and/or AWS SQS

Experience using Terraform for infrastructure and deployments

Strong knowledge of microservices architecture

Proficiency with Docker and containerisation

Experience with AWS services, particularly:

ECS

SQS

Cognito

Experience using GitLab for source control and CI/CD

Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Nice to Have

Frontend experience with modern JavaScript frameworks
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
Exposure to monitoring and logging tools
Knowledge of cloud security best practices
