THE ROLE
British Business Bank (BBB) has a diverse investment focus involving debt and equity, and this position is part of the business that manages a portfolio of direct lending funds, FinTech companies and the Banks Regional angel programme.
In this position you will be working as part of a team that is responsible for evaluating, structuring, and monitoring BBB capital supporting delivery partners whose focus is on providing debt and equity to smaller UK companies.
The role will involve working across the range of activities of the team, together with investment colleagues based in the Sheffield and London offices, and liaising with in-house legal, risk and finance teams as well as external advisors as appropriate.
The key aspects of the role will involve Portfolio Management, supporting team members in maintaining and updating portfolio data and valuations, monitoring the performance of investments in the current and expanding portfolio, supporting in the preparation of portfolio reporting and analysis, monitoring Delivery Partner correspondence and initiating the drawdown and distribution process. You will also be participating and maintaining records of internal and external meetings, working with colleagues in the Bank’s reporting and finance functions with respect to portfolio performance, and managing BBB’s relationship with third party contractors responsible for delivery of various aspects of programme operations.
As part of the Investment Process, you will be drafting internal investment papers, and supporting the investment team in assessing different business models for the delivery of debt and equity products against investment criteria.
It will be essential for you to have an understanding of finance, communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and have a good understanding of financial modelling. You will also need to be able to demonstrate that you are competent in the use of Excel and PowerPoint.
