Job Summary
The Hotel General Assistant is a versatile and customer-focused team member responsible for supporting various departments within the hotel. This includes duties as a Night Porter, Kitchen Porter, Waiter/Waitress, and Bar Staff. The role requires flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to delivering excellent guest service at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Night Porter Duties
- Ensure the safety and security of guests and the hotel premises during night hours.
- Perform regular security checks and respond to emergencies or guest requests.
- Set up breakfast areas or conference rooms for the next day.
- Handle late check-ins and early check-outs.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in public areas overnight.
- Kitchen Porter Duties
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation and kitchen cleaning.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure kitchen areas are clean, hygienic, and well-organized.
- Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately.
- Support stock rotation and deliveries.
- Waiter/Waitress Duties
- Greet and serve guests in the restaurant or dining area.
- Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently.
- Deliver meals and beverages to tables in a timely manner.
- Clear tables and reset for the next guests.
- Ensure a clean and welcoming dining environment.
- Bar Staff Duties
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Maintain cleanliness and stock levels behind the bar.
- Check guest identification and ensure responsible alcohol service.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
- Engage with guests to create a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
- Flexible with working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic food hygiene and health & safety awareness (training can be provided).
Working Conditions
- Shift-based work, including night shifts and weekends.
- Standing for long periods and manual handling may be required.
- Uniform provided.
