About The Role

Are you a people person who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment? At the Caledonian Hotel, we’re looking for a Hotel General Assistant – a dynamic, hands-on team member who enjoys variety and is passionate about delivering top-quality service across all areas of hotel operations.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys no two days being the same! You’ll rotate between roles including Night Porter, Kitchen Porter, Waiter/Waitress, and Bar Staff, gaining valuable all-round experience in the hospitality industry.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Night Porter
• Ensure a safe, secure, and peaceful environment overnight
• Conduct regular security checks and respond to any guest needs
• Set up breakfast or conference rooms for the following day
• Manage late arrivals and early departures with a warm welcome
• Keep public areas clean and presentable overnight
• Kitchen Support
• Assist chefs with food prep and maintain kitchen cleanliness
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Keep storage areas hygienic and organised
• Help with deliveries and stock rotation
• Restaurant Service
• Greet guests with a smile and take orders accurately
• Serve food and drinks in a friendly, efficient manner
• Clear and reset tables
• Ensure the dining area is always clean, tidy, and welcoming
• Bar Staff
• Serve drinks and provide a great guest experience at the bar
• Keep the bar area clean, stocked, and well-organised
• Handle payments and follow responsible alcohol service guidelines
• Create a fun and relaxed atmosphere for all guests
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• A positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
• Great communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to be flexible with hours (nights, weekends, holidays)
• Ability to stay calm and multitask under pressure
• Previous hospitality experience is a plus, but not essential – full training will be provided
• Awareness of food hygiene and health & safety (training available)
