The Opportunity
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen at Mackenzie Medical Centre (MMC) following the forthcoming retirement of one of our senior GPs. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed General Practitioner to join our vibrant, collegiate and forward-thinking team to work 8 sessions a week.
Mackenzie Medical Centre is the clinical arm of the Usher Institute and sits within the Centre for Population Health Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. The practice is wholly owned by the University—all staff are University employees—while simultaneously operating under a standard NHS GMS contract with NHS Lothian. This unique structure allows us to combine the stability and ethos of NHS general practice with the academic, collaborative and developmental culture of a leading global university.
We take immense pride in our status as a prestigious teaching and training practice. Teaching is deeply woven into the identity of general practice at Edinburgh—indeed, the University of Edinburgh established the first Chair of General Practice in the world, marking a long tradition of innovation and leadership in the discipline. MMC plays an important role in the University’s community engagement mission and offers exceptional opportunities for GPs to contribute directly to the education of the next generation of doctors.
Informal enquiries may be directed to Gillian Mossman, Practice Manager, Gillian.mossman@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk
