The team:
At Bank of America, our Global Capital Markets (‘GCM’) business comprises our Debt Capital Markets (‘DCM’), Equity Capital Markets (‘ECM’) and Leveraged Finance (‘LevFin’) businesses. In all of these businesses we assist our clients in accessing and navigating the financial markets and provide tailored capital markets solutions to address a broad range of objectives. Across the three groups, our clients include investment grade and sub-investment grade corporates, financial institutions, private equity firms and sovereign, supranational and sovereign (SSA) issuers.
This London-based internship will be within Leveraged Finance, which products include bonds and loans to support M&A, LBO, Take-Private, Dividend Recapitalization and Refinancing.
Programme Overview
Our Off-Cycle Analyst program is designed to offer you a broad and exciting experience of what it is like to work as a full time Capital Markets analyst. For applications to this London program, if successful you will be assigned to the Leveraged Finance team. Analysts in Leveraged Finance business are involved in originating and executing a wide variety of debt solutions for our clients. You will work with our GCM partners, in addition to our Corporate and Investment bankers, to support with advising clients on optimal methods to access financing, whether for acquisitions, general financing or strengthening of balance sheets.
Training and Development
Your training and development are our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on the job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities
As an off-cycle analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Originating and executing non-investment grade debt transactions for both private equity and corporate clients, including financing to support M&A, LBO, Take-Private and Dividend Recapitalization
- Developing a strong understanding of credit and market fundamentals and making market-informed contributions on a broad array of financing structures
- Designing highly tailored presentations for clients, outlining solutions to their financing needs
- Interacting directly with our clients and other external parties (including investors) beside our product specialists to create and deliver financing solutions through Leveraged Finance products (leveraged loans, high yield bonds, bridge loans, etc.)
- Working on live transactions benefiting from direct exposure to clients (financial sponsors and corporates) and investors throughout the execution process
- Working closely with Investment Banking industry teams in the context of live transactions and origination efforts
Eligibility:
- Candidates are required to have already received or be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- For candidates who have already graduated, the graduation date is required to be between January and September 2025.
- For candidates who are still pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, the completion time frame must be before January 2026. Completion means that you have completed all final exams, coursework, and have no outstanding requirements for graduation. Please note that we reserve the right to request evidence of this completion date before extending an offer.
- Achieved minimum of 112 UCAS point (or equivalent) and on track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification or equivalent
- Must be available to join the programme from Monday 19th January for a period of six months. If candidates were to receive a full-time offer, then they must be available to join the graduate programme from July 2026. Please note that we are unable to offer any deferred start dates
What we are looking for:
- Fluency in English is essential; other European language skills are desirable but not essential
- Applications are accepted from a diverse range of degree disciplines such as the arts and humanities, as well as numerically focused subjects such as economics, mathematics, science and engineering
- Experience in Leveraged Finance, Investment Banking or Private Equity may be beneficial
- You'll need to demonstrate drive, innovation and a genuine interest in the financial markets
- Teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills, plus creativity are key qualities, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and interact with a variety of people
- Displays analytical and problem-solving skills
- Influences decisions and outcomes through effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interaction
