The team:
At Bank of America, our Global Capital Markets business comprises our Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Leveraged Finance (LevFin) businesses. In all of these businesses we assist our clients in accessing and navigating the financial markets and provide tailored capital markets solutions to address a broad range of objectives. Across the three groups, our clients include investment grade and sub-investment grade corporates, financial institutions, private equity firms and sovereign, supranational and sovereign (SSA) issuers.
DCM products include bonds, loans, capital products, liability management and FX and rates solutions
ECM products include private placements, IPOs, accelerated book buildings, rights issues, convertible bonds and derivatives
Leveraged Finance products include leveraged loans and high yield bonds to support acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, take-private, dividend recapitalizations and refinancings of existing sub-investment grade issuers and private equity portfolio companies
Programme Overview
Our Capital Markets Summer Analyst program is designed to offer you a broad and exciting experience working within one of these Global Capital Markets teams, whilst still benefiting from exposure to and connectivity with the other groups throughout the Summer Analyst programme. Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate a preference between DCM, ECM or LevFin. Following the selection process, successful candidates could be placed within either one of the 3 Capital Markets teams.
Training and Development
Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on the job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities
As a summer analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Work alongside product specialists directly with our clients at top management level to create and deliver financing solutions.
- Develop a strong understanding of market fundamentals and be able to make market-informed contributions on a broad array of financing strategies that address clients' specific needs
- Design highly tailored presentations for clients to outline solutions to their financing needs (such as general corporate financing and acquisition financing)
- Work on live transactions and interact with clients and professionals from across the bank as you build your network and experience
- Work closely with Investment Banking and Corporate Banking teams on client coverage and origination, and with ESG Advisory & Financing Solutions colleagues on a broad array of ESG-related topics and advising on ESG financing solutions
Work with sales teams and traders in Global Markets to coordinate and manage live deal executions, and liaise with Global Research to stay informed on the latest market developments
Eligibility:
- Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a completion time frame between September 2026 and July 2027. Completion means that you have completed all final exams, coursework, and have no outstanding requirements for graduation. Please note that we reserve the right to request evidence of this completion date before extending an offer.
- Achieved minimum of 112 UCAS point (or equivalent) and on track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
- Applications are accepted from a diverse range of degree disciplines such as the arts and humanities, as well as numerically focused subjects such as economics and mathematics
- Fluency in English is essential
Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full time employment to commence in July 2027; some lines of business may also offer the opportunity of a January or April start date. You must be available to join on one of these start dates if offered, unfortunately we are unable to offer deferrals.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Fluency in English is essential for all roles and the local language is required for regional roles.
- Applications are accepted from a diverse range of degree disciplines such as the arts and humanities, as well as numerically focused subjects such as economics, mathematics, science, and engineering. Preference for Leveraged Finance applicants with previous coursework or internship experience in finance.
- You will need to demonstrate drive, innovation, and a genuine interest in the financial markets
- Teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills, plus creativity are key qualities, as is the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and interact with a variety of people
- Displays analytical and problem-solving skills
Desired:
- Competent user of MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
