About The Role
We are seeking a visionary Global Head of Multi-Asset Trading Technology to lead the strategic design, modernization, and delivery of technology solutions underpinning trading activity across equities, fixed income, listed and OTC derivatives, FX, ETFs, and emerging digital asset classes. As a senior leader and Managing Director, you will drive the technology roadmap, partner with the CIO’s, Trading Desks, and Research teams, and oversee a resilient, scalable, and innovative trading technology stack. This role is central to our modernization journey, advancing the adoption of cloud-native architectures, GenAI-enabled workflows, and future-state technologies, to position State Street IM at the forefront of trading innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Technology Leadership
- Define and execute the global trading technology strategy in alignment with business growth, regulatory evolution, and market structure changes.
- Drive front-to-back platform integration across OMS, EMS, market data, risk, and post-trade systems for holistic trading solutions.
- Lead the migration and modernization of trading systems towards cloud-native, API-first, and microservices-oriented architectures.
Trading Platform Ownership
Oversee technology for multi-asset trading across equities, fixed income, FX, ETFs, listed/OTC derivatives, and structured products.
Manage and evolve buy-side OMS and EMS (e.g., Charles River IMS, Minerva, Bloomberg TSOX, Tradeweb, TS Imagine platforms to ensure seamless trade execution and integration.
Deliver robust FIX connectivity, market access, smart order routing, and low-latency execution capabilities aligned with the needs of global trading desks.
Trading Cost analysis (TCA) and optimization
Investment Oversight and Global Trading Regulatory needs
Innovation & Emerging Technologies
Champion the adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) for research insights, trader productivity, and automated decision support.
Explore and evaluate Quantum computing applications for optimizing trade execution, risk management, and portfolio rebalancing.
Integrate cutting-edge trading tools, advanced data platforms, and digital asset infrastructure to future-proof trading technology.
Stakeholder & Business Partnership
Serve as the primary technology partner for global trading desks, CIO, and research teams, ensuring technology solutions are business-driven and user-centric.
Collaborate with risk, compliance, and operations to ensure regulatory adherence, operational resilience, and exceptional service delivery.
Represent the technology function in global governance forums and steering committees; build alignment with executive leadership and business stakeholders.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, inspire, and mentor a high-performing global technology team across multiple trading hubs, fostering a culture of agility, accountability, and innovation.
Drive talent development, succession planning, and team engagement to support business growth and technology transformation.
Effectively manage a multi-million-dollar technology budget, ensuring disciplined execution, vendor optimization, and value creation.
Execution, Resilience & Oversight
Ensure resiliency, scalability, and operational excellence of all trading systems and technology infrastructure.
Oversee the end-to-end technology lifecycle—from concept and design to deployment and adoption—across asset classes and geographies.
Establish KPIs and metrics for platform usage, execution quality, risk mitigation, and business value enablement.
Manage strategic vendor relationships (e.g., ION Group, Bloomberg, Tradeweb, TS Imagine, MarketAxess), promoting robust integration and service performance.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 10+ years of senior leadership experience in trading technology within asset management, hedge funds, or investment banking.
- Deep expertise in multi-asset electronic trading, including equities, fixed income, FX, ETFs, and both listed and OTC derivatives.
- Comprehensive understanding of the full investment lifecycle and front-to-back trading workflows.
- Hands-on technical proficiency in FIX protocols, market connectivity, order/execution management, integration frameworks, and modern programming languages (Java, Python).
- Proven track record in delivering scalable, user-centric trading platforms and managing large-scale global technology transformations.
- Expertise managing buy-side OMS (Minerva, CRD) and EMS (Bloomberg, Tradeweb, TS Imagine) platforms.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices architectures, APIs, and interoperability standards.
- Experience with emerging technologies such as GenAI, Quantum computing, and digital assets solutions.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional, global technology teams across product, data, and engineering domains.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with ability to interface at the C-suite and board levels.
- In-depth knowledge of global regulatory and compliance frameworks for electronic trading, with experience driving technology solutions for regulatory reporting and operational risk controls.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required.
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS Financial Engineering, CFA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Salary Range
$170,000 - $282,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
