The team
Quantitative Strategies and Data Group (QSDG) uses models, data, and analytics to develop and deliver impactful solutions to sales and trading teams across Global Markets. We collaborate across business lines and are guided by the highest standards of governance, ethics and scientific rigor.
Programme Overview
Our summer internship programme is designed to offer you an opportunity to apply your quantitative skills in an exciting and fast-moving environment. You will gain first-hand experience of kinds of problems the trading business faces, and the vital role analytical skills play in solving them.
Training and Development
Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on the job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities
Your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Applying statistical and data science techniques to analyse market dynamics and client behaviour.
- Contribute to the development of pricing models to understand and manage the risks of complex derivative products
- Participate in the development of models and strategies that the business use to make trading decisions.
- Studying, implementing, and improving electronic trading algorithms.
- Building signals and tools to improve the efficiency and profitability of the trading business.
Eligibility
- Candidates are required to be pursuing a PhD or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a completion time frame between September 2026 and July 2027. Completion means that you have completed all final exams, coursework, and have no outstanding requirements for graduation. Please note that we reserve the right to request evidence of this completion date before extending an offer.
- Achieved minimum of 112 UCAS point (or equivalent) and on track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
- Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full time employment to commence in July 2027; some lines of business may also offer the opportunity of a January or April start date. You must be available to join on one of these start dates if offered, unfortunately we are unable to offer deferrals
What We Are Looking For
- Excellent mathematical, analytical and modelling skills
- Good programming experience like python, C++
- Good Experience with exotics or flows modelling in front office quantitative team (equity derivatives would be ideal)
- Good understanding of different models used within derivatives products and option pricing theory.
- Good understanding of different numerical methods used in finance.
- Capable of working effectively both independently and with multiple teams/individuals.
- Good communication skills.
