£45,000-50,000 + Bonus + Company Car

Role + Responsibilities for a Service Engineer:

The role requires servicing, commissioning, fault diagnostics/repair, and witnessing calibration work of a range of ultrasonic flow meters and associated solutions.

Main Responsibilities For a Service Engineer

  • Commission, calibrate, and repair onsite instrumentation: Work across various industries within the company's customer database.
  • Witness calibration work: Ensure that calibration procedures are followed accurately and provide verification of the calibration process.
  • Liaise with service coordinators: Ensure all spares, tools, and paperwork are available to carry out duties. In case of non-completion, arrange or confirm the next site visit.
  • Customer interaction: Communicate with customers prior to executing the job to ensure full understanding and advise on estimated time of arrival and any anticipated delays.
  • Adhere to safety rules: Follow site safety rules, permit to work systems, and carry out risk assessments.
  • Compliance: Work according to local and industry procedures and comply with industry codes of practice and the company's quality management system.
  • Maintain company equipment: Ensure the upkeep of company-provided equipment such as laptops, cars, and tools.
  • Travel requirements: Travel throughout the UK and possibly offshore. Periods of absence from home, including overnight stays in hotels, will be expected from time to time.
  • Support other departments: Provide services and support to other departments and customers as deemed appropriate by the Field Services Manager.
  • Training and development: Assist in the development and training of other engineers and workshop staff as required.
  • Job reporting: Timely and accurate job reporting in accordance with the company's service report forms.
  • Expense forms: Submit expense forms in accordance with the company's timescales.

Qualification + Profile for a Service Engineer:

  • Experience of working within a field service role, in particular on customer based sites
  • Background and experience in the UK Gas Network metering sites / bio-methane sites preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Have a high level of self motivation with attention to detail
  • Have a high degree of customer service skills
  • Be able to work on their own as well as member of a team
  • Be able to understand and interpret technical drawings for the purposes of fault diagnosis and rectification

Requirements For The Role Of a Service Engineer

  • Must hold a driving licence
  • Have a flexible approach to the role as some jobs require working outside the contractual working hours, being away from home (when technically competent) and be expected to participate in a 24/7 response rota for Service Contracts
  • Must be able to work at heights
