Our Team
Together we engineer and build the infrastructure, tools, access and telemetry for systems that enable orchestration of Google-scale services. Come build things that matter.
As a Google Systems Engineer, you will:
Be responsible for deploying secure Google Cloud sovereign solutions at customer sites, as well as internal reference deployments.
Build expertise in the cutting-edge Google Cloud air-gapped offering, and partner with Google and customers to deploy and improve its capabilities
Perform day to day troubleshooting and resolution of hardware and infrastructure issues (Network, Storage, Servers, OS, Kubernetes, etc.).
Interact with customers as well as internal development organizations to accomplish shared goals.
Participate in Customer, Partner, and Internal team Deployments and training which will require international travel.
Support train-the-trainer programs to equip Customers and Partners with the knowledge and skills to effectively conduct customer deployments.
We are looking for experience in the following skills:
Experience with systems automation, and with systems design and implementation and technical infrastructure (e.g., deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting).
Experience with IaaS solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing) and cloud storage solutions (e.g., SQL database administration, Google App Engine, cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing technology).
Experience in TCP/IP and networking concepts (PXE boot, Subnets, VLANs, Jumbo Frames, LACP, NIC Teaming, Unicast/Broadcast/Multicast, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, SSH, etc.) and in one or more areas of infrastructure: Linux, Kubernetes, Networking, Storage, etc.
Experience as a Customer Solution Engineer.
Experience in scripting (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.) to help with automation of routine tasks.
Experience in Site Reliability Engineer or IT production systems engineering.
Experience debugging/troubleshooting workload issues across multi-node environments, and with resolving P1 cases or incident management.
Understanding of physical server, storage and network devices.
Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to empathize with customers.

Location:
Your home office will be in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, or Glasgow. This role is client-facing and may therefore involve travel up to 75% travel, working in other parts of the UK as well as overseas depending on the needs of the project.
Flexibility and mobility are required to deliver this role as there will be requirements to spend time onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery of the first-class services we are known for.
