Governance and Readiness Manager - Permanent
The Governance & Readiness Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Governance & Readiness in managing suppliers and intra-group arrangements. This is done in alignment with the Third-Party Risk Management and Outsourcing (TPRMO) policy and requirements to ensure a robust control environment for all third parties. This role is crucial in overseeing and managing third-party suppliers while ensuring compliance with the TPRMO policy.
The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for managing a portfolio of suppliers, serving as the primary point of contact and escalation for all matters related to these third parties. They will chair various governance forums, fostering strong stakeholder relationships to effectively manage arrangements. Regular updates will be provided to the Head of Governance and Readiness regarding supplier portfolios and policy compliance.
A significant aspect of this role involves leading business readiness oversight activities against an established business readiness framework, which encompasses both internal and external changes. The candidate will ensure that the organization is fully prepared to adopt and integrate these changes seamlessly.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide and motivate their team effectively. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to build and maintain robust relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and internal teams. Additionally, they should have a deep understanding of third-party risk management principles and experience in managing supplier relationships within a complex organizational structure.
In summary, the Governance & Readiness Manager's role is to ensure that the organization is equipped to manage third-party risks effectively, lead a team to oversee supplier arrangements, and drive business readiness initiatives to support seamless operational transitions.
Key Responsibilities for this role may include:
Governance and Oversight of Third-Party Arrangements:
- Understand the M&G TPRMO policy and standards and how these apply to the Life business.
- Chair and oversee relevant governance forums, providing facilitation, challenge, escalation and guidance for committee members.
- Produce reports and management information (MI) related to the Supplier Arrangement to ensure effective and ongoing management of the Third Party Arrangement.
- Serve as the senior point of contact between M&G and third-party providers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, third-party suppliers, and service providers to ensure collaboration and drive the business forward.
- Liaise directly with third-party providers to ensure all required pre- and post-contract Risk Control Activities are completed.
- Deliver effective stakeholder engagement to senior leadership, promptly highlighting challenges related to third-party services.
- Provide senior support on business escalations to and from third-party suppliers, ensuring adherence to appropriate oversight processes and escalation management routes.
- Initiate and track remediation activities associated with third-party arrangements, ensuring timely completion.
- Collaborate with the first line of defence (1LOD) risk areas to manage and oversee risks and compliance issues.
- Ensure all required Risk Control Activities are completed on time.
Readiness:
- Responsible for the oversight and assurance of business readiness on change activity across the Life business to mitigate risk and protect positive customer outcomes.
- Work closely with business areas to set up and board new supplier arrangements, ensuring governance and oversight readiness.
- Develop and embed the Change oversight framework for operational business readiness.
- Communicate and champion the change readiness assurance process across the Life business.
- Support the business in applying change readiness standards to smaller change activity.
- Represent the Life business within the change governance structure to understand, challenge and update on any change activity within the Life business.
- Work with third party suppliers to validate their business readiness frameworks and gain assurance on any changes being delivered.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Experience of risk management, assurance and/or supplier oversight in a regulated financial services organisation or a similarly regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge and experience in managing a third-party relationship in a regulated financial services organisation or a similarly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of the requirements of the TPRMO Policy, Standards and Framework.
- Working knowledge of regulatory & risk management frameworks.
- Working knowledge of financial services
- Experience of change delivery and oversight.
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Working knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors.
