About This Role
We're looking for a confident individual who can form and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders to support the delivery of the governance service. This is an opportunity to ensure rigour, efficiency and meaningful undertakings at a school level for our governors, directly contributing to the success of our schools.
As an essential member of the governance team, you will have oversight of a group of academies providing them with support and guidance. You will co-ordinate and support local governing body (LGB) activities, support governor recruitment and training as well as clerking governor panels for a number of OAT academies. In the role of clerk, you will ensure smooth process of agenda-setting, scheduling, formal minutes and correspondence throughout the academic year.
Working with the central governance team and academy staff, you will ensure compliance of statutory requirements and guidance regarding website and policy procedural matters.
In this role, travel will be required to attend some governance meetings on site at the Birmingham office or at the academies. We are open to discussions around working arrangements regarding full time/part time or term time only. Some evening work is required for this role, to attend governors meeting virtually or in person.

About You
You will be a values’ driven individual, show integrity, demonstrate confidentiality in this role. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrative experience in a similar role within the education sector, experience of delivering to deadline and working to a high standard. You’ll possess a strong understanding of what good governance looks like within a school setting.
We are looking for an organised individual, who understands how important excellent planning and attention to detail are crucial to the role. Your knowledge and support will develop strong and purposeful relationships with a range of stakeholders across the organisation including Chairs of Governors, Principals, Education Directors. Offering advice and guidance where necessary to resolve any issues quickly.
In this role, you will co-ordinate and deliver cluster/regional based governors’ induction and training virtually and in person. It is vital a high-quality and consistent induction programme is delivered to all new governors in line with the Trust’s development offer and expectations.
We are seeking someone who is flexible and adaptable, able to plan and manage their own workload and travel to meet expectations.
