Graduate/Assistant Civil Engineer

Austin Partnership are a highly successful Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy; based in Cardiff but working on projects across Wales and England.

Due to a healthy order book and in line with our business plan, we are looking to appoint a Graduate/Assistant Civil Engineer to join our employee-owned company. The ideal candidate is a capable and motivated individual who can assist the team in delivering the civil engineering/drainage designs for a diverse range of projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior colleagues in the production of technically sound engineering solutions, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
• Design of sustainable drainage solutions, including the preparation and management of SAB applications
• Submission of sectional agreements
• Coordinate designs with colleagues and wider project team
• Attend meetings and undertake surveys when required
• Collaborate with clients, designers and building contractors throughout the design and construction process

Requirements

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering (or another appropriate subject)
• Ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status
• Good knowledge of below ground drainage design, including drainage strategies, SAB applications, SuDS features and external works
• Good knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD (essential), Civil 3D/Site 3D/PDS (desirable), TEDDS (desirable)and Causeway Flow/Microdrainage (desirable)
• Ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards
• Ability to prepare technical reports
• Demonstrate innovation and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 1 years' post graduate experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn and tackle new challenges
• Help promote a culture of best practice (including technical, H&S and sustainable design)
• Good knowledge of the role of the designer in relation to the CDM Regulations 2015
