Purpose of Role:

The Graduate Quality Assurance Engineer will support the Quality Department in ensuring products, processes, and supplier activities fully comply with AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001:2015 requirements. The role includes responsibility for reviewing and amending engineering drawings, maintaining controlled documents such as operation sheets and Bills of Material (BOM), conducting inspections, performing root cause analyses, supporting supplier quality management, and assisting with the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

The role is designed for a graduate or junior engineer with 0–4 years’ experience, with clear opportunities for development and progression within the Quality function.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Engineering Document Control

  • Review, amend, and maintain engineering drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer requirements and relevant standards.
  • Prepare, update, and release operation sheets and work instructions to support production.
  • Maintain and verify Bills of Material (BOM) for correctness and full configuration traceability.

2. Quality Assurance Activities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections to verify product conformity.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain records of First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Support internal audits and maintain records to demonstrate compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001.

3. Root Cause Analysis & CAPA

  • Investigate internal and supplier non-conformances, as well as customer complaints.
  • Conduct structured root cause analyses using approved problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

4. Supplier Quality Assurance

  • Perform incoming goods inspections and ensure supplier materials meet specifications and certification requirements.
  • Support maintenance of supplier quality documentation in line with traceability and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in conducting supplier evaluations and approvals.
  • Support supplier non-conformance investigations and coordinate supplier corrective actions.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in risk assessments, FMEA, and the development of control plans.
  • Participate in improvement activities aimed at reducing non-conformances and improving process capability.
  • Support promotion of a right-first time and continuous improvement culture.


 Education, Qualifications & Skills Criteria Requirement


  • Education

Minimum BSc in an Engineering discipline (Electrical preferred). MSc/MEng advantageous.

  • Experience

Graduate level or junior engineer with 0-4 years’ experience in a quality/manufacturing role.

  • Technical Skills

Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software (mandatory).

  • Standards Knowledge

Awareness of AS9100 Rev D, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality requirements.

  • Root Cause Analysis

Basic understanding of tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone.

  • Attributes

Strong attention to detail; accurate documentation skills; effective communicator; team player.

This role forms part of a structured Career Pathway within the Quality/Manufacturing function:


  • On completion of foundational training, progression towards Quality/Manufacturing Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, or Senior Quality/Manufacturing Engineer roles is encouraged.
  • Internal and external training in AS9100 auditing, problem-solving tools, and customer-specific requirements will be provided.

Additional Information:

  • The role may require occasional travel to suppliers or customer sites.


** £26,000-£32,000**
