London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of Graduate Teaching Assistant – Forensic Science (1 year fixed term, Maternity Cover) to contribute to our Bsc (Hons) Forensic science, ranked third in the UK and 1 st in London (Guardian University Guide 2025). The postholder will make a contribution to teaching and to the development of existing and new academic programmes in Forensic Science.
This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to join and support a dedicated team of academic and technical staff with curriculum delivery and academic assessment. It includes ensuring all learning support is conducted in accordance with current health and safety regulations, undertaking the preparation and delivery of learning materials, and undertaking the organisation and marking of formative and summative academic assessment tasks under the guidance of academic staff.
About You:
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:
- Someone who can evidence they have the skills required to meet the teaching needs of the course.
- Someone who has up to date knowledge of the specialist field of forensic science.
- Someone who is a highly effective communicator, and has a high level of oral, written and numerical literacy
- Someone who is digitally literate and can evidence experience with successfully using Microsoft Office 365 and Virtual Learning Environments (such as Moodle, Canvas and Blackboard)
- Someone who has an understanding and commitment to EDI, and is well aligned with the LSBU EPIIC values
The ideal candidate will be degree educated, and highly motivated, able to work independently and also as part of a team. Theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of analytical chemistry techniques (TLC, HPLC, GC) and spectrometry/spectroscopy (MS, FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis) would be desirable.
