London South Bank University are excited to be recruiting for the post of
Graduate Teaching Assistant within the National Bakery School which forms part of our School of Applied Sciences.
At the National Bakery School, “Where Craftsmanship Meets Science and Technology”, we aim at positively transforming students’ lives through applied education and research in baking and patisserie. Our mission is to teach baking and patisserie craft associated to applied science and technology at the highest standard, equipping our graduates with market-relevant skills and confidence. Moreover, we contribute to business and societal solutions with our extensive applied research.
This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity of joining the staff at the National Bakery School, the oldest bakery school in the world, and teaching/tutoring a cohort of students to prepare them for their future careers in the baking industry. The successful candidate will also be strategic in supporting the technical service in matters of ingredients procurement, HACCP, inventory and cost control, logistics and organization of the practical classes.
About You:
We are looking to hear from candidates who have the following skills/experience:
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills.
- High proficiency in the use of MS Excel.
- Experience in Bread Fermentation and Pastry.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Work ethic and dependability.
- An understanding of professional practice within the Baking/Food Sector with extensive knowledge in food costing, operation managing, inventory, HACCP, and food safety.
The ideal candidate will be degree educated, preferably in Baking Science and Technology or equivalent, be highly motivated, and show extensive experience and understanding in the baking/patisserie processes. Experience in New Product Development as well as Nutrition notions is also highly desirable.
