About the opportunity:
Datacenter Dynamics is looking for an experienced graphic designer to join our growing editorial team and oversee the design of our printed and digital products.
With more than 20 million page views a year and a community measuring in the hundreds of thousands, DCD is a media, conference, and training company that serves the digital infrastructure market.
DCD is looking for a graphic designer to work on our award-winning quarterly print and digital magazine as well as regular mini-magazines on specific topic areas and other digital, designed products for our commercial partners.
The ideal candidate will have experience in editorial design and be confident working independently to come up with eye-catching page layouts. This is an exciting period of growth for DCD, and the new designer will be given the opportunity to help with the redesign of our magazine and supplements.
Key responsibilities:
• Deliver high-quality and imaginatively designed pages in the house style, either from scratch or using libraries and templates
• Design advertorials and other commercial content to client specifications
• Meet all editorial deadlines
• Liaise with editors, reporters, and other DCD staff to fully understand and interpret the briefs provided
• Make suggestions on suitable imagery to accompany stories
• Ensure typography, design, and house styles are maintained in all work produced
• Commission and manage the work of freelance designers where necessary
• Monitor DCD’s designed products and suggest areas where layouts can be improved
Skills and requirements
• Demonstrable experience designing pages for magazines or other similar publications in an editorial environment
• Track record of producing creative editorial pages consistently to a high standard
• Experience using all Adobe software, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc
• Manage personal workflow and be able to hit tight deadlines
• Good communication skills in order to liaise with different areas of the business
• Must be an enthusiastic and dedicated designer, with a desire to exceed expectations
What you’ll bring:
An ideal candidate would have some experience working on a B2B publication. Demonstrable interest and/or experience in technology and digital infrastructure is not necessary, but would be beneficial.
This role will be a mix of office work, at DCD’s headquarters in London, and remote working.
