The role
The Data & Digital Architect plays a strategic role within the IT organisation, responsible for shaping and guiding the data architecture and digital landscape across a large, multi-country enterprise. Reporting directly to the Group Head of Enterprise Architecture, this role is pivotal in driving innovative solutions, especially in the integration and leverage of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). With a focus on security and scalability, the architect ensures robust, secure, and future-proof data management frameworks.

Key accountabilities
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive data & Digitalisation architecture strategies that support the organisation's multi-country digital transformation objectives.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, particularly AI and ML, ensuring alignment with business priorities and security standards.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and senior leadership to ensure data solutions meet current and future organisational needs.
- Lead the establishment and governance of data standards, principles, and frameworks, enabling secure and compliant data handling across enterprise systems.
- Act as an advisor on data-related projects, providing expertise on architecture best practices, technology selection, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure consistency, interoperability, and scalability across enterprise systems through strategic architectural oversight and planning.
- Mentor and guide technical teams and stakeholders, fostering a culture of innovation, security awareness, and continuous improvement in data practices.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in data architecture within large, geographically dispersed organisations.
- Deep knowledge of modern enterprise systems, including cloud-based platforms and data integration technologies.
- Expertise in emerging IT trends and hands-on experience integrating AI and ML solutions into enterprise architectures.
- Proven understanding of data security principles, compliance standards, and secure architectural design methodologies.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to effectively engage and influence senior business and IT leaders. Including ability to translate technical information and concepts into simple language.
- Strong leadership qualities, capable of guiding and motivating cross-functional teams towards achieving strategic objectives.
