An opportunity to lead global financial control at one of the world's most respected international charities.
We are partnering with a high-impact global NGO undergoing significant transformation to recruit an experienced Interim Global Financial Controller. With an annual spend of over £1.6 billion, operations across 50+ country offices, and a complex external audit process (led by KPMG), this is a vital role in ensuring financial integrity across the organisation.
This role leads a high-performing, technical team of 12 across financial accounting, controls, and tax. Reporting to the CFO and engaging regularly with Audit & Risk Committees and the Board, the postholder will be responsible for:
Leading statutory financial reporting across global entities
Managing the annual external audit, including a complex 4-month audit cycle
Overseeing financial control and compliance across all country offices, including balance sheet reviews and KPI monitoring
Supporting and reviewing tax and VAT compliance globally (including £1m VAT recovery annually, transfer pricing, and global mobility tax reviews)
Contributing to key transformation projects, including the migration from Agresso to Oracle, with a focus on systemising controls
Providing quarterly updates to the Board and CFO on compliance, audit risk, and data governance
We're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with extensive experience in:
Leading financial control, audit, or reporting functions within a global, complex environment (international charity experience highly desirable)
Managing multi-entity audits and statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions
Building and leading technical teams, with a collaborative, calm, and empowering leadership style
Operating at Board level, with strong influencing and communication skills
Charity SORP, FRS 102 and ideally some exposure to tax, including VAT and corporate tax compliance
International impact: Shape the financial foundation of programmes that reach millions worldwide
High-performing team: Step into a strong, reliable, and motivated team environment
Strategic influence: Engage directly with senior leadership and influence key financial decisions
Flexible and remote: Fully remote role with a preference for UK or adjacent time zones
