Group Financial Controller – Private Equity Backed | Multi-Billion Turnover FMCG | £150,000 + Car + Bonus + LTIPs

I’m partnered with a high-growth, private equity backed FMCG group in the East Midlands (hybrid – 2 days per week on-site) to appoint a Group Financial Controller into a critical leadership role. This organisation is fast-paced, complex, and operating at multi-billion-pound scale, offering an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious finance leader to make a significant strategic impact.

You’ll be involved in…

Reporting directly to the Group CFO, this position will take full ownership of the Group’s financial control environment and lead a team of 30+ across Financial Control, Reporting, Tax, Treasury and Shared Services.

The incoming Group Financial Controller will:

• Drive high-quality financial governance, technical accounting and statutory reporting
• Oversee robust month-end and year-end close processes
• Lead and develop a large, high-performing finance team
• Strengthen controls, processes, systems and standardisation across the Group
• Work closely with the CFO and support Board, PE investor and bank reporting
• Manage audit relationships and external advisory interactions
• Play a key role in transformation, systems improvement and M&A integration

This is a role suited to someone who combines operational rigour with the ability to influence at Board and investor level, and who thrives in a demanding, change-oriented environment.

Your background…

I am looking to speak with high-calibre finance leaders who have:

• A strong controllership background from either a large, complex PLC or a private equity-backed environment
• Experience operating at Group level within FMCG, consumer or other fast-paced, multi-site businesses
• Excellent technical accounting expertise (ACA/CA qualified or equivalent)
• Demonstrated success leading sizeable teams (20–30+) within a complex, matrixed environment
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management abilities
• The resilience, pace and gravitas required for a PE-backed environment
• A notice period of 1 or 2 months or less (this is essential due to business timelines)
• Can look at permanent and FTC options
