Stanton House is partnering with a fast-growing retail business that has undergone a successful turnaround and is now entering its next phase of growth. With a strong brand, ambitious leadership team, and a renewed focus on financial discipline, the business is investing in a newly created Group Financial Controller role to help professionalise and scale the finance function. This is a high-impact opportunity for a driven finance leader who wants visibility, autonomy, and a clear pathway into a future Head of Finance position.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the Head of Finance, you’ll play a pivotal role in “getting the house in order” — strengthening controls, improving reporting and analytics, and leading a capable but traditionally technical finance team towards a more commercial, insight-driven mindset. You’ll have exposure across the entire business, working closely with senior stakeholders to drive better decision-making and support continued profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and develop a team of 8 across group accounting, AP, AR, payroll, and cash
• Own month-end and group consolidation, ensuring accuracy and pace
• Drive improvements in financial processes, systems, and controls
• Deliver insightful management reporting and performance analysis
• Strengthen governance, audit readiness, and statutory compliance
• Partner with operational leaders to improve cost control and performance
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and longer-term strategic projects
• Bring clarity to complex data across multiple channels and reporting methods
What We’re Looking For
• ACA qualified (audit-trained preferred)
• Strong experience in retail, manufacturing or similarly complex operational environments
• Confident managing audits, controls, and group reporting
• Comfortable operating in businesses where systems and data are evolving
• Commercially curious — able to analyse, interpret, and explain results
• A proactive change-agent who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo
• Strong people leader with the ability to upskill and influence
